Obedient Daughters
The three daughters of the managing director of a rugby club all got married
on the same day, and they all spent the first night, with their husbands, as guests
of their father in his palatial Hampstead home. Towards midnight, the parents
began to wonder how their daughters were getting on, so they crept upstairs and
listened outside each door in turn.
Through door number one, they heard the first daughter laughing her head off;
through door number two, they heard the second daughter crying her eyes out; but
when they listened at the third door, there wasn't a sound to be heard.
The next day, the parents took their daughters to one side and asked for an explanation.
The first daughter said, 'Well, you always told me to laugh when I was being tickled.'
The second daughter said, 'And you always told me to cry when I was hurt.'
And the third daughter said, 'You always told me never to talk with my mouth full.'
